
The variation in ambient temperature in winter or summer can negatively affect the performance of a photovoltaic solar pumping installation and increase associated costs such as diesel consumption if it is a hybrid installation with a generating set.
To avoid these inconveniences, it is advisable to install STC-1 string voltage controllers in solar pumping installations, thereby achieving:

MORE POWER AND SURGE PROTECTION The STC-1 string voltage controller allows you automatically connect PV modules to compensate for voltage drops (due to temperature in the middle of the day or due to shadows) and have more power in the drive. In winter, it automatically decouples modules from the string to protect the frequency converter from surges due to low temperatures in the PV modules.

SAVINGS IN DIESEL CONSUMPTION IN HYBRIDIZED IRRIGATIONS WITH GROUP
The STC-1 equipment allows great savings in diesel by reducing the need for power by the generating set.

In the example graph, up to 186 hours of use the 120 kW generator set (more than 6,300 liters of diesel/year) are saved in a configuration of 14 fixed modules +2 additional ones with STC-1 (450 Wp/module with 32 strings) in a hybrid installation with a generator set for a 100 kW pump.
BETTER EFFICIENCY IN HYBRIDATION
Hybridation efficiency improves if the voltage of the solar field at full load is higher than the voltage of the AC source.
When there is low solar radiation and the power is supplied from the AC source (generator set or grid), it is necessary to prevent the photovoltaic modules from acting as a load. The STC-1 has built-in blocking diodes that isolate the modules from the AC source.

STC-1 makes it possible to increase the working hours available in the solar field.

Taking into account the combined effect of savings in diesel or electricity bill plus the increase in annual hours available for irrigation using solar energy, the Strings STC-1 control is a product that pays for itself very early in the total life of the solar installation , and generates extra savings during practically the entire 20-year guaranteed life of the solar installation.
