The World Economic Forum (WEF) has distinguished the LS Electric Smart Factory in Cheongju (South Korea) among the ‘lighthouse’ factories of 2021 for its use of the most advanced technologies and its role as a manufacturing model for the future.
Since 2018, the international organization has distinguished in its Global Lighthouse Network the production centers that actively use key technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI) and ‘cloud computing’, to create a new manufacturing model, just as lighthouse lights guided ships at sea at night.
‘The selection of LS Electric’s smart plant in Cheongju as a ‘lighthouse’ factory is a recognition of LS Group’s continuous efforts to transform into a digitalization-driven company’, said LS Group President Koo Ja-Yeol. At the WEF annual meeting held last September.
