Vector Energy signs an agreement with the Santa Perpètua de Mogoda City Council

Vector Energy has signed an agreement with the Santa Perpètua de Mogoda City Council to conduct a pilot test of its innovative battery energy storage system (BESS), SUNVEC Storage, at the photovoltaic installation of the Municipal Football Center.

This project marks the first implementation of the BESS system in a real-world setting, outside the laboratory, allowing for the optimization of the technology’s performance. The goal is to reduce energy consumption and operational costs of the sports facilities, while also decreasing their dependence on the electrical grid. The system will store surplus solar energy to be used during periods of high demand, particularly in the late afternoon and evening, when there is no photovoltaic production.

The agreement was signed by the mayor of Santa Perpètua de Mogoda, Isabel Garcia, and the CEO of Vector Energy, Iván Olivares, at an event that was also attended by the councilor for Climate Change and Energy Transition, Sergi Hernández, the technical director of Vector, Ricardo Molina, and the BESS product manager, Eduard Sanz.

Efficient storage with the BESS SUNVEC Storage system

Sergi Hernández, councilor for Climate Change, positively assessed Vector Energy’s solution: “The generation of photovoltaic energy does not always coincide with peak consumption times. Therefore, it is essential to have storage systems that allow us to use that energy when it is really needed, such as in football fields, which have their peak usage in the afternoons and evenings.”

The BESS SUNVEC Storage system will allow for the storage of surplus solar energy produced during the day, ensuring its availability during peak demand hours. This will enhance the energy efficiency of the facility and reduce its carbon footprint.

Commitment to Renewable Energy

Iván Olivares, CEO of Vector Energy, emphasized the City Council’s interest in promoting renewable energy projects: “It is an honor that the first team of our new batteries comes from our factory and begins its implementation in Santa Perpètua. This project reinforces our commitment to the municipality and a sustainable future.”

Meanwhile, the president of the Unión Club de Fútbol (UCF), Francisco Torres, expressed gratitude for the initiative and highlighted the project’s significance for the club: “In addition to reducing energy consumption, this project will raise awareness among over 500 families in the club about the importance of renewable energy and the efficient use of resources.”

Energy Innovation at the Service of Sports

With this agreement, Vector Energy reaffirms its leadership in energy storage solutions and its commitment to sustainability. The implementation of the BESS system at the Municipal Football Center of Santa Perpètua will not only enhance the energy efficiency of the facilities but will also serve as a benchmark for future projects in the sports sector.
